Advisement for Undergraduates

In the psychology department, our goal is to teach students to take responsibility for their own education. We give you the tools and information you need to make smart decisions about your educational journey at UD.

The undergraduate advisement web pages should be the first place you look to answer your psychology advisement questions. We will continually update this page with announcements, requirements, and information about the curriculum.

HAVING PROBLEMS?
You might have trouble adding an upper level course if
*you're a super senior who didn't have to take PSYC207
*you took STAT200 on campus instead of PSYC209

If you are having trouble registering, you need to send five pieces of information to Judy Fingerle (fingerle@udel.edu) OR Jennifer Helfer (advisement@psych.udel.edu). Please don't get impatient: email ONLY ONE of these two people!

1. Your name
2. Your student ID
3. The class you need (e.g., PSYC340-010)
4. The 4- or 5-digit class number for that course and section (found in UDSIS)
5. The reason you need to be manually added to the course.

TRYING TO ADD PSYC100?
There are some restrictions on certain PSYC100 sections.

PSYC100-012 is for freshmen students only.

PSYC100-014 is for nonmajors only.

PSYC100-010, PSYC100-011, and PSYC100-013 are open to all students.

Trying to add a 410, 194 or 195 section?

410 sections:
410 sections of courses are sponsored by CEND, and are usually held in Arscht Hall on the Wilmington campus. These classes ARE open to regular UD students, but their seats are held for CEND students until the Friday before classes start. You may register for these using UDSIS, starting on August 29.

For WINTER or SUMMER sections:

If you want a 194 (online) section of a course, you have to
-phone in registration by calling (302) 831-8843.
- fax in registration, by printing the registration and payment forms from this website
and faxing them to (302) 831-4913.

If you want a 195 (online) section of a course--these sections are reserved only for students who are OUT of state and want to take the course from HOME during winter or summer. The Friday before classes start, the unused seats in 195 courses will be released as 194, and then anybody can sign up for them in UDSIS.

For FALL or SPRING sections:
If you want a 194 (online) section of a course, you have to
-phone in registration by calling (302) 831-8843.
- fax in registration, by printing the registration and payment forms from this website
and faxing them to (302) 831-4913.

New Policy on declaring the PSYC major or minor

To declare a major or minor in psychology, all you have to do is fill out a change of major form in UDSIS. If you have a GPA overall of 2.30 or higher, you will be admitted to the major or minor, usually within a few days of submitting your form. posted 3/18/2008
