The Psychology Major

Most of our students are pursuing a B.A. in Psychology. However, you can also pursue a B.S. in Psychology, a B.A. in Psychology Education, or a B.A. in Neuroscience. Requirements for the Psychology Major (B.A.)

The B.A. degree is the standard way to pursue the psychology major.

Bachelor of Arts requirements

Bachelor of Arts - old curriculum

You should follow the OLD curriculum if you:

• matriculated (started) at UDel PRIOR to Fall, 2004, AND
• declared the psychology major any time BEFORE September 1, 2004

Requirements for the Psychology Major (B.S.)

Starting in Fall, 2007, students can declare a B.S. in psychology. The B.S. degree is a new way to pursue the psychology major. It requires coursework in Biology, Chemistry, Math, and Computer Science, and requires significant research experience. It's a rigorous preparation for for graduate work in psychology or related disciplines.

Bachelor of Science

Psychology Education (B.A.)

We also sponsor a Psychology Education Major. This is a psychology major, plus additional courses in social sciences, history, and education. It includes a student teaching semester. Upon completion, you are eligible for teaching history and social studies at the secondary schools in Delaware. Information about this major is available here. Neuroscience (B.A.)

Students can opt to follow an interdisciplinary major in psychology and biology. Read more about this program here.
