Research Interests

dynamics of interracial relationships, Stereotyping, bias, Racial socialization

Research Summary:

I am currently conducting research with Professor Sam Gaertner on various dimensions of romantic relationships and friendships.  Specifically, we are examining differences and similarities among individuals in interracial and intra-racial relationships in terms of their cognitive representations of their relationships, levels of commitment, satisfaction, investments, and quality of alternative partners.

I am also conducting research with Professor Eun Rhee examining racial identity development of Asian American and White American children.  Specifically, we are interested in which dimensions of racial identity emerge during middle childhood and how they change with development. In addition, we are also interested in how parents racially socialize their children, and how parents’ racial identity and perceptions of discrimination influence their racial socialization practices.
