Opportunities for Undergraduates in Dr. Stanton's Lab

Undergraduates can work in the lab for course credit (Psyc 366, 466, 668), as part of UD's Undergraduate Research Program (www.urp.udel.edu), or as part-time employment (UD Workstudy program or by the hour from one of the lab's NIH grants). Students with exceptional qualifications and motivation to pursue training in behavioral neuroscience may apply for a paid Undergraduate Traineeship position that involves a minimum time commitment of 12 months (full time summer + part-time academic year) and pays a minimum of $6,630. These traineeships typically start the summer after the freshman or sophomore year. Interested students may e-mail electronic copies of their transcript(s), resume, and a 1-paragraph description of the nature of their interest in the traineeship to Dr. Stanton at: stanton@udel.edu.
All undergraduate researchers, regardless of the mechanism or duration of their appointment, negotiate a training plan with Dr. Stanton before they enter the lab. The purpose of the plan is to arrive at a common set of expectations and to ensure that the goals of both the student and the laboratory are served by the student's participation. The plan is tailored to each student's current level of research experience and to their long-term goals (both within and outside the lab).
The lab takes pride in fostering excellence in undergraduate research. For examples of first-author publications by past undergraduate researchers, see Rush et al (2001) and Paczkowski et al. (1999) in my publications list.
