Cognitive PsychologyFred Masterson
Research InterestsArtificial intelligence, computer languages, mathematical models Research Summary: Animal learning and memory. Ethology and biological constraints on animal learning. Animal motivation systems. Avoidance behavior and species typical defense reactions. Learning and generalization of response effort. Connections between human and animal intelligence. Psychophysical measurement of motivation. Mathematical models. Dr. Masterson is also interested in artificial intelligence, and the psychological aspects of human-computer interactions and the human engineering of computer software systems. This new area of human factors research can be expected to grow in importance as the percentage of total computing costs attributable to software design (already over 80%) continues to rise. |
